Skin picking is not an easy feat. Starting is as easy as looking in the mirror when you brush your teeth in the morning and stopping is just plain difficult. We will not try to sugar coat it and make it sound simple. However, we do have a few tips that may help you get through the day with a little less skin picking on the mind.
Mirror Messages
First things first, if you catch yourself frequently picking your face, try the following. Whether it be picking acne, clogged pores, or any little skin imperfection you can zoom in on in the mirror, try to negate the lean-in and write yourself a message. Grab a sticky note or dry erase marker and write yourself a message to remind yourself of how wonderful you are and to not pick today. If you need some inspiration, check out these free printable mirror messages.
Lastly, throw away the face-picking hooks, loops, and tools. We repeat, throw away the face picking tools! They are a dermatologists’ worst nightmare and also yours! If you get rid of the problem, it can be a little easier to change your habits, we promise.
Fidget Stones
If you are feeling like you are itching to pick your skin, try to have a fidget such as a Pick ‘N Peel Stone handy to mitigate the urge. If you can, keep the peel side filled and ready to peel in your purse, or if you’re at home, keep your Calming Case ready for anytime it is needed.
Whether you are in need of picking and peeling with Pick ‘N Peel tools, or the sensation of picking with your fingers, there is a fidget stone to help.
Coloring
Adult coloring books can be extremely helpful when it comes to re-routing focus. The act of trying to stay is those tiny lines is hard. It allows you to focus on something other than skin picking and finding blemishes or imperfections on your own body. We especially love this good vibes coloring book from Etsy. You can even take some of the quotes within and write them on your mirror! Boom!
There are plenty other ways to help with skin picking as well, but these are our top three favorite that work for us.
